EAT ROW REJOICE
09-08-2010 - 10:48am

This may get old, these celebrations of the YNY life, but I sure had a beauty this weekend. Up on Lake Winnepesauke again...up at dawn and took the new Whitehall (actually a Little River Heritage Skiff, made of carbon fiber) out before any else was stirring. Rowed in the mist and the loons to nearby islands...slowly...just taking it in. Then head... Read More

Open call for limbic resources !

Chris and I would like to begin collecting what we call limbic resources. These are organizations, mostly non-profits, that offer effective vehicles for Younger Next Year members to get connected, do some good, and build their limbic base. I will share a short story to get the ball rolling. I was sitting with a very nice guy this weekend ... Read More

The First Day of the Rest of Your blah blah blah
07-22-2010 - 08:38am
Hello,

This will be a quick entry, need to get a shower and off to work. I'll try to flesh out the story as I go, but the purpose of this initial blog is similar to the relatively easy workout this morning - the first since I picked up the book - and the first since about February when I let excuses stop me from what was a relatively active exercise program I had been on for almost a year - to make a start.

So I started, 35 minutes on the exercise bike (without heart monitor, but I don't think it's a big deal yet), then ten minutes on the weight circuit training machine here at the apartment. I really dislike working out indoors, especially here where there is no way to control the temperature. It's too cold in there, took over ten minutes just to start sweating, but I can't/won't run yet, not this morning cause my shoes are at another house, and also because I don't know how my back will feel if I start running again. I am afraid of that pain, but I miss that all out sweat that comes from running outside here in Houston.

I feel good, it was not that hard to do the workout. It felt good to be breathing hard again (for more than three minutes...) and when I did start to sweat that feels so alive. I'm cooled off, and now I really do need to get moving, so I will end this thing. I'm like (I suspect) most of you, 50ish, computer savvy to a point but I am not exactly sure what this blog will do - will people other than me even read it? If for some reason it becomes something to read, I will try to keep it concise (my s.o. would be happy to hear - technical writing training in college - she would edit this down to about 20 words) and interesting in as much as a blog about me can be interesting.

Thanks for reading, I will try to keep this updated every day or two, and to make the next one have a little more substance.
