About Me
- Occupation: realty
- Biography:
I guess I should update this:
My early years were dedicated to bike racing, specializing in double century events (200 mile rides). I spent a goodly portion of my 20's enjoying that discipline. I turned to kayaking around age 28, and got a bit carried away, traveling around for a few years boating the whitewater of the USA, finally settling in central California where the boating was diverse and immediately available year round.
In my early 30's I returned to biking, as a coach and trainer for Kitty Goursolle. We developed a program that qualified her as the first woman to ever get to compete in the Race Across America... a 3,000 mile non-stop event. She originally approached me to coach her in Slalom Kayak racing, because my girlfriend had just beat her at the Pacific Divisional championships. I had to decline training her to beat my girlfriend, but told her I was about to train for double centuries on the bike... if she wanted to switch sports...? She did... and we ended up going for the 650 mile John Marino Open, the RAAM qualifier. There were no categories for women at that time; she had to go head to head with the guys. The top 12 finishers went on to do RAAM. She came in sixth...
I took some years off in my latter 30's... then moved to Arizona and began hiking and trail running, finally specializing in challenge events that involved steep grades. Very steep grades. I enjoyed some success in those endeavors.
I am now looking to test some of the principals of the Younger Next Year philosophy and see if I can replicate some of those accomplishments from 10 to 25 years ago....
