Kedges

We have put this new slot on our web site because kedges - whether little ones that last a day or huge ones that take six weeks - seem increasingly important to how people do with this program. Kedges to get started...kedges to keep going...kedges to keep those old blues away. Besides which, I am working on a book of kedges and hope to steal liberally (without a hint of attribution) from your ideas and experience.

FROM CHRIS
My last kedge was preparing for and then rowing my single scull in the three-mile, Head of the Charles Regatta in October (see old blogs). It was a teensy bit too hard but it worked very well.
My next one is getting into very different shape – and losing some weight – for a six-week ski trip to Aspen at the end of January. That’s a kedge at the fully-retired, luxury-end of the scale, obviously. You may not be quite there yet but the underlying problems are familiar: my weight has been creeping up (just like yours) and my strength has been creeping down (just like yours). That’s not a good formula for skiing in your 70’s so I have some work to do and a serious reason for doing it. Send help. Send advice. Get me the hell out of here!

If you are going to write books like ours…and give stern lectures into the bargain …you can’t look like a big fat, tumble-down idiot when you take to the hills. So, here we go.

See you.
