STEEL IS REAL; WOOD IS GOOD

I have great sympathy for the steel is real cyclists who have added comments. The legendary Richard Sachs lives near my former home and I have ridden with him a little. His steel bikes are stunningly beautiful, custom fit and as about good as anything on the road. I still have an ultimate sneaker for ti and carbon fiber but steel can be sensational. Ben Serotta still makes a steel bike and that also tells you something.

In the same vein, I use a forty year old wooden Pocock single scull and love it. I may get a fiber glass one this summer but not yet. The old one is almost as fast and way better looking. A little easier to smash up, alas. That may decide me.
Any other rowers out there?
